Bio
Dr. Cheryl Bernabe Bishop is a distinguished Education Consultant for McMillan Publishers and the Lead Facilitator at UWI Open Campus. With a multifaceted career spanning role as a Principal, Teacher, Motivational Speaker, Textbook Reviewer, Webinar Presenter, Professional Development Presenter, and Dance Choreographer, she embodies a commitment to lifelong learning and empowerment.
Her academic credentials are impressive, holding a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership with a focus in Curriculum and Instructions, a Master’s in Science of Educational Leadership, and Bachelor’s degrees in Educational Administration and Management, Early Childhood Education, and Dance in Education and Dance Choreography. Currently pursuing a Post-Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership, she continually expands her expertise in the field.
With over 40 years of experience in education, Dr. Bishop is revered as a Cultural Icon in Grenada, having served as the lead dancer and choreographer for the National Performing Company. Her influence extends to the regional level, as she represented Grenada on the CXC Council for seven years and played a pivotal role in the implementation of the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) for grade six students.
From 2019 to 2021, Dr. Bishop served as the Head of Curriculum at the Ministry of Education, spearheading groundbreaking research on Values-based Education. Her efforts culminated in the formulation and approval of the policy for the introduction of a Values-based Education System in Grenadian Schools, enacted by the government in 2021.
As a passionate advocate for Values-based Education and the Creative Arts, Dr. Bishop envisions a transformative shift in Grenadian schools, placing each student at the center of their learning journey. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to Education and Culture, Dr. Bishop has received numerous accolades, including the Most Outstanding School Principal award from the Ministry of Education, Medals of Honour from the Queen of England, and awards for her contributions to Culture and Education from the Ministry of Culture and Grenada's Golden Jubilee Independence Celebrations in 2024.
